قرآن و حدیث میں زکوٰۃ کی فضیلت
اسلام ایک ایسا دین ہے جو انسان کو روحانی پاکیزگی، سماجی ذمہ داری اور معاشی عدل کی طرف لے جاتا ہے۔ زکوٰۃ اسی نظام کا بنیادی ستون ہے جو نہ صرف مال کو پاک کرتی ہے بلکہ معاشرے میں موجود ضرورت مندوں کو سہارا بھی دیتی ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے قرآن میں مختلف جگہوں پر زکوٰۃ کی اہمیت بیان کی ہے اور رسول اللہ ﷺ نے احادیث میں اس کی فضیلت واضح فرمائی ہے۔ اس مضمون میں ہم قرآن و حدیث کی روشنی میں زکوٰۃ کے مقام، فضائل اور اس کے اثرات کو آسان انداز میں سمجھیں گے۔
قرآن کریم میں بہت سی جگہوں پر نماز کے ساتھ زکوٰۃ کا ذکر آیا ہے۔ اس سے اس عبادت کا مقام اور لازمی حیثیت واضح ہوتی ہے۔
1) نماز اور زکوٰۃ -- ایمان کی علامت
﴿وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ﴾
ترجمہ:
نماز قائم کرو اور زکوٰۃ ادا کرو۔
یہ آیت قرآن مجید میں بار بار دہرائی گئی ہے۔ اس تکرار سے ایک عام مسلمان بھی یہ سمجھ سکتا ہے کہ زکوٰۃ کوئی معمولی عمل نہیں بلکہ دین کا بنیادی تقاضا ہے۔ جس طرح نماز مسلمان کی پہچان ہے، اسی طرح زکوٰۃ انسان کے مال کا امتحان ہے۔
2) حقیقی نیک لوگ کون ہیں؟
اللہ تعالیٰ نے نیک لوگوں کی صفات گنواتے ہوئے فرمایا:
زکوٰۃ قرآن و سنت کی روشنی میں کوئی معمولی عبادت نہیں بلکہ انسان کے ایمان، کردار، اخلاق، معاشرت اور معاشی ذمہ داریوں کا مجموعہ ہے۔ یہ عبادت انسان کو اللہ کے قریب کرتی ہے، اس کے مال کو پاک کرتی ہے، اس کے گھر میں برکت لاتی ہے اور اس کے معاشرے میں امن پھیلاتی ہے۔
اسی لیے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ:
"زکوٰۃ ادا کرو، یہ تمہارے اسلام کی خوبصورتی ہے۔"
Part 2 اسی مقصد کو واضح کرتا ہے کہ زکوٰۃ ایک مکمل نظام ہے جو فرد اور معاشرے دونوں کی تکمیل کرتا ہے۔
Zakat is not merely a charitable contribution in Islam; it is a divinely ordained system that purifies wealth, uplifts communities, and nurtures spiritual growth. It embodies the balance between personal prosperity and collective responsibility. The Qur’an repeatedly emphasizes its importance, and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described its rewards, wisdom, and impact with great clarity.
In this article, we explore the virtues of Zakat as described in the Qur’an and Hadithpresented in simple, human-friendly English.
Zakat is mentioned dozens of times in the Qur’an often alongside Salah (prayer). This pairing indicates that just as prayer is essential for spiritual life, Zakat is essential for social welfare.
1) Salah and Zakat: Signs of True Faith
﴿وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ﴾
Translation:
“Establish prayer and give Zakat.”
This command appears repeatedly throughout the Qur’an. It shows that Zakat is a core part of Islamic identity. Prayer builds a direct connection with Allah, while Zakat builds a compassionate connection with humanity. Both are inseparable signs of true believers.
In this verse, Allah lists Zakat among the qualities of the righteous. This means a believer can never attain full righteousness unless they purify their wealth and share it with those who need it.
This shows that Zakat is foundational. A Muslim cannot ignore it without compromising a core element of their faith.
2) Charity Never Reduces Wealth
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ"
Translation:
“Charity does not decrease wealth.”
This profound statement teaches us that when we give for the sake of Allah, we never lose.
Allah promises:
Replacement
Blessing
Protection
Growth
Even when we do not see it immediately, Allah increases our wealth in ways beyond calculation.
3) Severe Consequences for Withholding Zakat
The Prophet ﷺ warned:
"مَن آتاهُ اللهُ مالًا فلم يُؤدِّ زكاتَهُ، صُوِّرَ له مالُه يومَ القيامةِ شُجاعًا أقرعَ…"
Translation:
“Whoever Allah gives wealth but he does not pay its Zakat, his wealth will appear on the Day of Judgment as a bald-headed snake wrapped around his neck.”
This imagery is powerful.
It teaches that:
Wealth we love can turn into punishment.
Zakat protects us from harm.
Every blessing comes with responsibility.
4) Zakat Brings Blessings to the Entire Ummah
The Prophet ﷺ prayed:
"اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأُمَّتِي فِي صُبْحِهَا"
Translation:
“O Allah, bless my Ummah in their early mornings.”
Scholars explain that one of the primary sources of barakah (blessing) in the Ummah is the circulation of wealth through Zakat. When wealth flows, Allah’s mercy flows.
Zakat is not just a financial obligation; it is a transformative act of worship. It shapes character, uplifts society, purifies wealth, and strengthens the bond between believers. The Qur’an emphasizes it repeatedly, and the Prophet ﷺ described its immense worldly and spiritual rewards.
In short:
Zakat beautifies your wealth, your character, your community, and your Hereafter.
