بنی اسرائیل کے ۹۹ افراد کے قاتل کی توبہ
کیا آپ نے کبھی کوئی ایسا گناہ کیا ہے جس کے بعد آپ کو لگا ہو کہ اب آپ کی بخشش ناممکن ہے؟ شیطان آپ کے کان میں سرگوشی کرتا ہوگا کہ "اب تمہارے لیے کوئی راستہ نہیں!"
لیکن یاد رکھیں، اللہ کی رحمت اس کے غضب پر غالب ہے!
صحیح بخاری اور مسلم میں مروی بنی اسرائیل کے ایک شخص کا یہ ایمان افروز واقعہ ہر مایوس دل کے لیے تازہ ہوا کا جھونکا اور امید کا مینار ہے۔
ننانوے (۹۹) نہیں، سو (۱۰۰) کا قتل!
بنی اسرائیل میں ایک شخص تھا جو چوری، ڈکیتی اور قتل و غارت گری میں اس قدر مشہور تھا کہ معمولی بات پر کسی کی جان لے لیتا تھا۔ ہوتے ہوتے اس کے ہاتھوں ۹۹ افراد کا خون ہو چکا تھا۔
ایک دن اس کے دل میں یہ خیال آیا: "مجھے بھی تو اللہ کے پاس جانا ہے! کیا میری توبہ قبول ہو سکتی ہے؟"

عابد کا غلط مشورہ اور ایک اور قتل:
اس شخص نے لوگوں سے پوچھ کر ایک عابد (عبادت گزار) کے پاس جا کر اپنا مسئلہ بتایا کہ کیا ۹۹ قتل کے بعد اس کی مغفرت ہو سکتی ہے؟ عابد کو چونکہ علمِ دین حاصل نہیں تھا، اس نے اپنی عقل سے یہ قیاس کیا کہ اتنے بڑے قاتل کی توبہ کیسے قبول ہو سکتی ہے!
اس نے دو ٹوک جواب دیا: "تیری توبہ قبول نہیں ہوگی!"
قاتل کے دل میں غصہ اور جلال پیدا ہوا کہ جب توبہ قبول نہیں ہونی تو لاؤ تجھے بھی ختم کروں، اور یوں اس نے اس عابد کو بھی قتل کر کے مقتولین کی تعداد ۱۰۰ پوری کر دی۔
رحمت کی جستجو اور عالم کا مشورہ
سو قتل کرنے کے باوجود، اس کے دل میں رحمت کی جستجو باقی تھی۔ اس نے پھر لوگوں سے پوچھا کہ روئے زمین پر سب سے بڑا عالم کون ہے؟
لوگوں نے اسے ایک عالمِ باعمل کا پتہ دیا۔
یہ شخص عالم کے پاس گیا اور پوری داستان سنائی، سو قتل کا کارنامہ بیان کیا اور پوچھا: "کیا میرے لیے بھی مغفرت کا کوئی خانہ ہے؟"
ایک اعرابی کی دل ہلا دینے والی دعا: روح کو جگا دینے والا ایمان افروز واقعہ پڑھنے کیلئے یہاں کلک کریں
علم رکھنے والے عالم کا ایمان افروز جواب!
عالم نے جواب دیا: "تیرے گناہ معاف کرنے میں اللہ کو کیا رکاوٹ ہے! اللہ کی رحمت کا سمندر تجھ جیسے گناہ گاروں کے گناہوں سے بہت بڑا اور وسیع ہے۔"
اس عالم نے اسے مشورہ دیا کہ تم اس بری بستی کو چھوڑ دو اور فلاں بستی کی طرف سفر کرو جہاں صرف اللہ کے نیک بندے رہتے ہیں، ان کے ساتھ مل کر عبادت کرو اور سچے دل سے توبہ کرو۔
منزل سے ایک بالشت کا فاصلہ: فرشتوں کا جھگڑا اور فیصلہ
قاتل نے عالم کا مشورہ مانا اور اس گناہ گار بستی کو چھوڑ کر نیکی والی بستی کی طرف سفر شروع کر دیا۔ ابھی آدھا راستہ ہی طے ہوا تھا کہ ملک الموت آ پہنچے اور اس کی روح قبض کر لی۔
اب اس کی روح لے جانے کے لیے رحمت کے فرشتے بھی آئے اور عذاب کے فرشتے بھی۔
- رحمت کے فرشتے: "یہ توبہ کر کے جا رہا تھا، حق ہمارا ہے۔"
- عذاب کے فرشتے: "اس نے کبھی کوئی نیک کام نہیں کیا، پوری زندگی گناہ میں گنوائی، حق ہمارا ہے۔"
اسی دوران اللہ کے حکم سے ایک فرشتہ انسانی شکل میں آیا اور دونوں کے درمیان فیصلہ کرنے کے لیے کہا:
- "دونوں طرف کی زمین ناپ لو۔ جہاں سے آ رہا ہے (بستیِ معصیت) اور جہاں جا رہا ہے (بستیِ عبادت)، ان میں سے جس کی مسافت قریب ہو، اسے اسی بستی والوں میں شمار کر دیا جائے گا۔"
فرشتوں نے مسافت ناپی، اور وہ عجیب منظر تھا! بستیِ عبادت جہاں وہ جا رہا تھا، وہ بستیِ معصیت کے مقابلے میں صرف ایک بالشت (Hand Span) قریب نکلی!
نتیجہ: ایک بالشت کی قربت کی بنیاد پر اس کی مغفرت کا فیصلہ ہو گیا، اور رحمت کے فرشتے اس کی روح لے گئے۔
حاصل: توبہ کا دروازہ ہمیشہ کھلا ہے
یہ واقعہ ہمیں دو بنیادی حقائق سکھاتا ہے:
- اللہ کی رحمت بے انتہا ہے: سو قتل جیسے عظیم گناہ کے باوجود، جب بندے نے سچے دل سے توبہ کی نیت کی، تو اللہ نے اسے قبول فرما لیا۔
- نیت کا سفر عمل سے پہلے شمار ہوتا ہے: وہ شخص منزل پر پہنچا بھی نہیں تھا، لیکن اس کی نیت اور اس کے سفر کو قبول کر لیا گیا۔ ایک روایت کے مطابق، موت کے وقت وہ سینے کے بل نیکی کی بستی کی طرف گھسیٹتا گیا تاکہ وہ فاصلہ مزید کم ہو جائے۔
حدیث قدسی: "میں اپنے بندے کے ساتھ اس کے گمان کے مطابق ہوتا ہوں، اور وہ مجھے جہاں بھی یاد کرے، میں اس کے ساتھ ہوں۔... جو شخص ایک بالشت میری طرف آتا ہے، میں ایک ہاتھ اس کے قریب ہو جاتا ہوں، اور جب وہ میری طرف چل کر آتا ہے تو میں اس کی طرف دوڑ کر آتا ہوں۔"

The Repentance of the Man Who Killed 100 Souls
Have you ever committed a sin that made you feel like forgiveness was impossible? Does the devil whisper in your ear, "There is no way back for you"?
Remember this profound truth: The Mercy of Allah overcomes His Wrath!
This inspirational story, narrated in Sahih Al-Bukhari and Muslim, about a murderer from the Children of Israel (Bani Israel) is a beacon of hope for every despairing heart.
Not Ninety-Nine, But One Hundred Murders!
In the Children of Israel, there was a man infamous for theft, banditry, and murder. He was ruthless and would kill someone over the slightest provocation. His victims accumulated until he had killed ninety-nine (99) people.
One day, a profound thought struck him: “I must also go to Allah. Is there any chance for my repentance to be accepted?”
The Devotee's Mistake and the 100th Murder:
He sought counsel and was directed to an ordinary worshipper (an 'Abid). The murderer asked if there was any chance for his forgiveness after killing ninety-nine souls. Since the 'Abid lacked deep religious knowledge, he concluded based on his logic that such a massive killer could never be forgiven.
The 'Abid flatly replied: "Your repentance will not be accepted!"
In a fit of rage and despair, the man exclaimed that if he was not to be forgiven anyway, he might as well complete the count. He killed the worshipper, making the total count one hundred (100) murders.

The Quest for Mercy and the Scholar's Advice
Despite killing 100 people, the yearning for forgiveness persisted in his heart. He asked people to direct him to the most learned scholar on earth, believing only a true man of knowledge could give him the correct answer.
He was directed to a renowned scholar (Alim).
The man recounted his life story, including the horrific count of 100 murders, and asked, "Is there any door of forgiveness open for a sinner like me?"
The Scholar's Faith-filled Response!
The scholar replied: "What could possibly stand between you and repentance? The ocean of Allah's mercy is far vaster and greater than the sins of a sinner like you!"
The scholar then advised him to leave his wicked town and travel to a certain land where good and righteous people lived, whose sole focus was the worship of Allah. He told him to join them, worship Allah, and seek forgiveness sincerely.
A Hand Span Away: The Verdict of the Angels
The murderer heeded the scholar's advice, left his sinful village, and set off towards the land of the righteous.
He had covered only half the distance when the Angel of Death (Malak al-Mawt) arrived and took his soul.
Immediately, Angels of Mercy and Angels of Punishment descended, arguing over who had the right to take his soul.
- Angels of Mercy: "He came repenting and heading towards Allah, the right is ours."
Angels of Punishment: "He never performed a single good deed and spent his life in sin, the right is ours."
At that moment, an angel, sent by Allah, appeared in human form (some narrations suggest it was Angel Jibreel/Gabriel) to arbitrate.
The angel decreed:
"Measure the distance between the two lands. Whichever land he is closer to (the land of sin or the land of goodness), he belongs to the people of that land."
The angels measured the distance, and miraculously, the land of goodness he was travelling towards was found to be just one hand span closer than the land of sin he had left!
The Result: Based on that single hand span's difference, the decision was made that he belonged to the righteous. The Angels of Mercy took his soul, and his forgiveness was announced by Allah.
The Takeaway: The Door of Repentance is Always Open
This powerful story teaches us two fundamental lessons:
Allah’s Mercy is Limitless: Despite committing the enormous sin of killing 100 souls, when the servant sincerely intended to repent, Allah accepted him.
- The Intention Counts Before the Deed: The man did not even reach his destination, yet his sincere intention and his journey were accepted. One narration states that as the Angel of Death came, he dragged himself on his chest towards the good land to shorten the distance.
Hadith Qudsi (Divine Narration): “I am as My servant thinks I am, and I am with him when he remembers Me... By God, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than one of you is when he finds his lost camel in the desert... If he draws near to Me by a hand span, I draw near to him by an arm's length; and if he draws near to Me by an arm's length, I draw near to him by a fathom; and if he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.”
