خوفِ خدا ہارون الرشید کے دربار کا واقعہ
دنیا کی بڑی سلطنتوں کے بادشاہ جب تخت و تاج پر بیٹھتے ہیں تو اکثر ان کے دل غرور و تکبر سے بھر جاتے ہیں۔ لیکن کچھ دل ایسے بھی ہوتے ہیں جو اقتدار کے باوجود خوفِ خدا اور یادِ آخرت سے نرم اور لرزاں رہتے ہیں۔ ایسا ہی ایک واقعہ عباسی خلیفہ ہارون الرشید کے ساتھ پیش آیا۔
خارجی کی بغاوت اور گرفتاری
امام محمد بن ظفر رحمہ اللہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ایک خارجی نے ہارون الرشید کے خلاف بغاوت کی۔ لشکر بھیجا گیا، جنگیں ہوئیں، اور بالآخر وہ شکست کھا گیا۔ اس باغی کو گرفتار کر کے دربار میں حاضر کیا گیا۔
ہارون الرشید نے اس سے پوچھا
بتاؤ! میں تمہارے ساتھ کیا سلوک کروں؟
خارجی نے نہایت جرأت سے جواب دیا
وہی سلوک کیجیے جو آپ چاہتے ہیں کہ کل قیامت کے دن اللہ تعالیٰ آپ کے ساتھ کرے۔
یہ جواب سن کر ہارون الرشید کے دل پر خوفِ خدا کی لہر دوڑ گئی۔ انہوں نے فوراً اسے معاف کر دیا اور آزاد کرنے کا حکم صادر فرمایا۔
خوفِ خدا کی برکت
یہ واقعہ ہمیں یہ سکھاتا ہے کہ اللہ کے حضور کھڑے ہونے کا تصور بڑے سے بڑے بادشاہ کے غرور کو توڑ دیتا ہے۔ جب دل میں آخرت کا خوف زندہ ہو تو انسان کی زبان نرم اور ہاتھ رعایت و معافی کے لئے بلند ہو جاتے ہیں۔
قرآن کی روشنی میں
اللہ تعالیٰ نے قرآن پاک میں ارشاد فرمایا
وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهٖ جَنَّتٰنِ (الرحمٰن: ۴۶)
اور جو اپنے رب کے حضور کھڑے ہونے سے ڈرے اس کے لیے دو جنتیں ہیں۔
حدیثِ رسول ﷺ
حضرت عباس بن عبدالمطلب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسولِ اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا
جب اللہ تعالیٰ کے خوف سے بندے کا بدن کانپنے لگے تو اس کے گناہ ایسے جھڑ جاتے ہیں جیسے سوکھے درخت سے پتے جھڑتے ہیں۔
(شعب الایمان، حدیث: 803)
نتیجہ
ہارون الرشید کا یہ واقعہ تاریخ کے اوراق میں ایک روشن یادگار ہے۔ اقتدار اور طاقت کے باوجود انہوں نے خوفِ خدا کو مقدم رکھا اور معاف کر دیا۔ یہی اصل بادشاہت ہے کہ انسان اپنے فیصلوں کو عدل، خوفِ خدا اور آخرت کی یاد کے ساتھ کرے۔

Fear of God — A Story from the Court of Harun al-Rashid
When kings sit upon thrones of vast empires, their hearts often swell with pride and power. Yet, there are some hearts that, despite ruling over the greatest dominions, remain humble with the fear of God and the remembrance of the Hereafter. Such was the heart of the Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid.
The Rebellion and Capture
Imam Muhammad ibn Zufar narrates that a Kharijite rebelled against Harun al-Rashid. Battles were fought, and eventually, the rebel was defeated and captured. He was brought before the Caliph’s court.
Harun al-Rashid looked at him and asked:
"Tell me, how should I treat you?"
With striking courage, the rebel replied:
"Treat me in the way you would wish Allah to treat you on the Day of Judgment."
Hearing this, Harun al-Rashid’s heart trembled with the fear of God. He immediately forgave the man and ordered his release.
The Blessing of God-Consciousness
This story teaches us that the very thought of standing before Allah can shatter the arrogance of even the mightiest rulers. When the fear of the Hereafter enters the heart, pride melts away, and mercy takes its place.
The Qur’an Speaks
Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an:
“And for the one who fears standing before his Lord, there are two Gardens.”
(Surah Ar-Rahman: 46)
The Words of the Prophet ﷺ
Sayyiduna Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said:
When the body of a servant trembles from the fear of Allah, his sins fall away just as the dry leaves fall from a tree.
(Shu‘ab al-Iman, Hadith 803)
Conclusion
The story of Harun al-Rashid is a timeless reminder that true greatness is not in crowns, armies, or treasures but in humility before Allah. Real kingship lies in ruling with justice, mercy, and above all, the fear of God and the remembrance of the Hereafter.
